Every piece that leaves our Dubai workshop starts the same way: as a hand-drawn concept, long before any machine touches it.

Where It Starts

MASHQ began with a simple observation — that Arabic calligraphy, one of the richest visual traditions in the world, was rarely showing up in modern home décor in a way that felt current rather than purely traditional. We wanted to make pieces that would sit as comfortably in a minimalist Dubai apartment as they would in a more classically styled majlis.

Design First

Every design starts on paper. Whether it's a geometric Arabesque pattern, a piece of Kufic script, or a client's personalised name, the concept is sketched and refined before it ever becomes a cutting file. Getting the proportions and spacing right on paper is what makes the final piece feel balanced rather than just technically accurate.

Precision-Cut, Piece by Piece

From there, each design is cut and engraved locally using precision acrylic work — not mass-produced overseas, but made piece by piece, in small batches, here in Dubai.

Finished by Hand

The machine does the cutting; the finishing is entirely human. Every edge is sanded, every surface cleaned, every piece inspected before it's packed. It's the last step where a good design either becomes a great physical object, or doesn't — so we don't rush it.

What Hasn't Changed

The tools have gotten better since we started, but the intention hasn't moved: take a tradition worth preserving, and make it something people actually want to live with.
