To decorate your home for Ramadan, dress three places: the iftar table, with dates in a lidded box at its centre; the entrance or the majlis, with a lantern or a «رمضان كريم» piece where guests come in; and one corner lit warmly after sunset. A decoration set does all three when it is used, not just displayed. Ours, the Ramadan Set on a Leather Tray (AED 225), is four acrylic pieces on a stitched leather tray: a dates box with «رمضان كريم» in Kufic on the lid, a mabkhara with arabesque ornament, and a white and a golden mashrabiya piece. Here are five ways to use it through the month.
1. The iftar centrepiece
Fill the box with dates and set the whole tray at the centre of the iftar table: the fast is broken from it, and everything else on the table arranges itself around it.
2. Split it between the table and the console
The set does not have to stay together. Keep the tray and the dates box on the table, and stand the two mashrabiya pieces on a console with a string of warm lights behind them, where the cut pattern is thrown onto the wall.

3. Bakhoor before the guests
Light the mabkhara twenty minutes before guests arrive, then let it rest. One small piece of bakhoor is enough; more about choosing and using one is in Mabkhara 101.
4. A gift for the family that hosts
If you are invited to iftar more than once in the month, the set is a gift for the host that is used the same evening. Gift wrapping is AED 20 per order, and a message written under “Order instructions” in your cart travels on a card with no price on it.
5. Put it away after Eid, bring it out next year
Wipe the acrylic with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, keep the pieces boxed and out of the heat, and the set comes out again the next Ramadan. A two-sided dome (AED 60) carries the month into Eid, with «عيد مبارك» on its other face.
When to order for Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027. Each set is made to order in 5–7 working days, then delivered (AED 25 per order anywhere in the UAE), so order by 28 January 2027.
