Where it sits. The rectangle, 30 × 10 cm, runs along a console or down the middle of a dining table with one row of nuts or dates; the large square, 24 × 24 cm, is a coffee-table box for mixed nuts or chocolates. Black with white flowers looks formal in a majlis; blue is lighter, for a kitchen or a breakfast table.

Wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth (microfibre is best) and lukewarm water or a little mild soap, in straight lines.
